The affordable housing crisis isn’t just a statistic—it’s a structural failure.
Soaring construction costs, labor shortages, and outdated building methods have made affordable housing nearly impossible to deliver, especially for communities hit hardest by economic and climate disruptions.
What can a climate tech company do about that? According to Nicholas Callegari and his team of advisors and investors—a heck of a lot.
Former SpaceX engineer and Yale MBA graduate Nick Callegari didn’t set out to start a housing company. But after years working in advanced manufacturing and spending summers on construction sites with his dad, he began to see an opportunity to apply aerospace-grade precision to one of society’s most stubborn challenges: how to build more, faster, cheaper, and better—for the people who need it most.
Verustruct is a construction technology startup reimagining how affordable housing can be delivered. Their portable 3D printing system fabricates homes directly on site, eliminating the need for costly factory setups or complex supply chains. Designed for flexibility, the system can operate in a range of environments to produce durable, low-carbon structures in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost of traditional methods.

It seems almost too good to be true—but it’s all real, and well past the concept stage. Verustruct’stechnology has been validated in multiple tests and pilot partnerships, including A Letter of Support from the City of New Haven, Letters of Intent from real estate developers, collaboration with a general contractor, and materials testing with O&G Industries. Their system integrates plumbing and electrical routing directly into the printing process and leverages sustainable cementitious materials to reduce emissions and construction waste—delivering an end-to-end solution that accelerates deployment while cutting costs and carbon.
This summer, Verustruct reached a major milestone: the company officially closed its oversubscribed $2.44 million pre-seed round, co-led by Necessary Ventures and Anorak Ventures, with participation from Boost VC, Mana Ventures, rpv, individual angel investors, and SOSV through the HAX program.

Verustruct joined ClimateHaven in 2024 after earning a Golden Ticket at the Yale Innovation Summit. Since then, ClimateHaven has supported the company’s path to market through investor and expert introductions, strategic fundraising support, and pitch refinement.
In a sector long overdue for reinvention, Verustruct is proving that the future of affordable housing isn’t just possible—it’s printable.
